2015 Year in Review

2015 is over! I edited down the full Year in Review Post because the other just seems too long. I also tried not to use the same book twice for most of the questions.

Overall, the year has been crazy so I’m really proud of what I’ve read compared to the hectic changes that have been happening in my life. I feel like certain books just come to you at the right time you were meant to read them & I definitely felt that way with a lot of the books I’ve read this year.

Number of books read: 41 books & 27 comics

Rereads: 10 books

Somewhat in order, except The Secret History & The Bone Season are tied.

The Diviners was actually still a good read, just didn’t live up to the hype. The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August was torturous to get through, but everybody else seems to love it & some even named it as their favorite book of the year. Afterworlds is just awful. Never put me through that again.

McSweeney’s always prints lovely editions.

Coralie Bickford-Smith is amazing.

“Carol turned around quickly as if stifling an urge to lunge at Max. He turned back to Max, straining to appear genial.

‘Okay,’ he said, ‘but will you come over here and put your head in my mouth again?’

Max continued to back up, ‘No, Carol. I don’t want to right now.'”

-Dave  Eggers

OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!)

(OTP = one true pairing if you aren’t familiar)

Navy & Karen from House of Leaves

Cath & Levi from Fangirl

& no, The Bone Season‘s pick is not Paige & Warden. Because I hate that ship. I got all excited for Paige & Nicklas, only to have my ship sunk halfway through. I don’t care. I’ll ride this thing out like the damn Titanic.

Favorite review that you wrote in 2015?

I loved my review for Wonderland by Stacey D’Erasmo. It’s also just this amazing book that I don’t really see being talked about in too many places so I want people to read it.

Also A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan doesn’t have a single like & this is my favorite book of all time so it’s just unacceptable.

I attended a City On Fire reading by Garth Risk Hallberg. All of my events are posted via my Snapchat: ReinReads

    • I know! Same here. I went on a book buying rampage because if a book is $3 or $4, how can you not buy it? But now most of them are sitting on my shelf & I’ve only just begun to chip through them…
